Forensic Interviewer

Wendy is an accomplished Forensic Interviewer at the Cochise County Family Advocacy Center, Lori's Place, where she has made significant contributions to the field of child advocacy and forensic interviewing. A native of Nampa, Idaho, Wendy graduated from Nampa High School before pursuing her academic interests at Boise State University, where she studied Psychology, Child Psychology, and Law.   In 1995, Wendy relocated to Arizona, where she began her distinguished career at the Cochise County Sheriff's Office. Her commitment to law enforcement led her to graduate from the Police Academy in 1997. Over the course of 21 years, she served as both a Deputy Sheriff and a Detective, specializing in General Crimes. Wendy's investigative efforts were crucial in addressing serious offenses, including aggravated assault, homicide, child and adult sex crimes, child abuse, child neglect, and elder abuse. Her extensive experience in these areas provided her with a comprehensive understanding of the complexities involved in forensic investigations.  Wendy has dedicated herself to continuous professional development, having completed over 100 hours of specialized training in Forensic Interviewing. This expertise has allowed her to become a vital resource in the community. In 2018, she took on the role of part-time designated Forensic Interviewer at the Cochise County Family Advocacy Center, Lori's Place. Additionally, she worked part-time at the Southern Arizona Children's Advocacy Center in Tucson until 2023. Throughout her tenure at both advocacy centers, Wendy has conducted over 1,000 forensic interviews, demonstrating her proficiency and commitment to ensuring that vulnerable populations receive the protection and support they need.  Wendy has been actively engaged in various community initiatives. She has contributed her time and expertise to the Children's Justice Project, Child Fatality Review Committee, and Domestic Violence Fatality Review Committee. Furthermore, she has been involved with La Leche League and has volunteered for the Cinderella and Miss Sierra Vista Scholarship pageants, demonstrating her dedication to empowering youth and promoting community wellness.  Having lived in Cochise County for nearly three decades, Wendy Adney embodies a deep commitment to her community and a passion for advocating on behalf of children and families in need.
